Ensuring safety during COVID-19

Fieldwork for the Scottish Household Survey has normally been undertaken face-to-face in people’s home. However, to ensure safety, all interviews are currently being done remotely either by telephone or video.

We are writing to selected households and asking them to take part. If you do want to take part, do visit the survey portal link given on the letter to let us know how you would prefer to be interviewed.

If you choose to take part in a phone interview, one of our interviewers will call you to arrange an appointment time. This can be at any time that is suitable to you. They will then call you back at the arranged time to carry out the interview.

If you choose to take in an online interview, this will take place on your smartphone, tablet or PC using the Microsoft Teams chat platform. You need an internet connection, or a mobile data connection, and an email address. You do not need a webcam.  You do not need to create a Microsoft Teams account because you can join the meeting as a guest. The interviewer will send you an email with your appointment time and a link to join the Microsoft Teams meeting.

If you need any further information or do not want to take part, please telephone 0808 238 5456 (freephone) and your name will be taken off the interview list.
